Dear Science,

In most cases, theory is introduced with some aspect of mechanics to justify the scope of the field of study. Unfortunately, mechanics alone cannot stand in place of practical application, particularly when it comes to studies of language. Exposure to mechanics, structure and methodological analysis, are of little value compared to the answering of more basic questions regarding what we have learned about the world around us, the human mind or reality. It is my opinion that mechanics are truly mastered, in any case, only with a thorough knowledge of practical application—otherwise one feels he is simply following the footsteps of unnamed predecessors and innovators on blind faith.
